Jonna's beloved competition partner, Laxton For U, affectionately known as 'Lohis,' is a horse she has personally trained to an international level. The pair competed in the Paris Paralympics in the summer of 2024. In spring, Lohis developed a small scab on his leg, which was later identified as a sarcoid – a challenging skin tumor. (More information: Sarcoid | Horse | Veterinarian Kati Tuomola | Sastamala).
Throughout the spring and summer, various treatments were attempted for Lohis's sarcoid, but without significant results. During summer competitions, the condition was managed with zinc spray. Finally, Jonna started using the WCD wound care device to treat the sarcoid as instructed, applying it for 10 seconds each morning and evening. The treatment soon began to work, and within a week, the sarcoid had significantly reduced in size, and by three weeks, it was nearly gone. Jonna was amazed by the results and hoped that the sarcoid would not recur. Lohis also had the beginning of a sarcoid on his other leg, which was successfully treated within a few days. Jonna believes that this treatment method should be more widely known, as sarcoids are challenging to treat, and not all traditional methods are effective.
