The Finnish Paralympic Committee and Led Future, a Finnish company specializing in UVC-LED disinfection solutions, are continuing their collaboration that began in 2021. The company has chosen pararider Jonna Aaltonen, who made her Paralympic debut in Paris, as its first official athlete ambassador.

Since 2021, the partnership between the Paralympic Committee and Led Future has highlighted Finnish expertise in disinfection solutions within the para sport community. The company’s devices were used at the Tokyo and Beijing Paralympic Games. Two years ago, the collaboration expanded to equestrian sports, where disinfection solutions can also support first aid care for horses.

As part of this development, Led Future introduced the Led Future WCD – a device that reduces the need for medication and antibiotics by supporting the treatment of wounds and skin infections in animals. The product, designed especially for horses, has been developed in cooperation with Finnish stables, educational institutions, and veterinarians.

The first Finnish parariders have already had the chance to test the device. Now, Led Future has named Jonna Aaltonen, who is aiming for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, as its first official athlete ambassador.

“We’re excited to begin our partnership with Jonna. When injuries occur, it’s important that riders have immediate access to the WCD wound care device. With UVC first aid treatment, horses’ wounds and skin injuries can be protected from infections, significantly speeding up healing,” says Ulla Uimi of Led Future.

Aaltonen received her international para classification in early 2023 and competed in her first Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024. Her next big goal is Los Angeles 2028.

“I’m delighted to be chosen as Led Future’s athlete ambassador. It’s an honor to represent a Finnish innovation that helps both athletes and horses stay healthier through disinfection solutions and wound care technology,” Aaltonen says.

Led Future’s devices first gained visibility at the Tokyo and Beijing Paralympics. Ahead of the Paris Games, the company also provided Finnish parariders with access to the wound care device.

In addition, Led Future continues to support the Future Stars program, which annually selects around 20 emerging para athletes to prepare for the demands of elite sport.

“It’s fantastic to see how our partner’s product development has taken the collaboration further—from providing disinfection devices to now directly supporting Finnish athletes in their sports and everyday lives,” says Timo Mäkynen, Partnership Manager at the Finnish Paralympic Committee.
